Pallet Burning

A sign on the door at the Cache Ranger District states that Pallets can no longer be burned on Forest Service property.   Sure, they might make great firewood but the aftermath is disastrous.

Below:  Leftovers from burning an estimated 20 pallets in a parking area (beware of flats) in Providence Canyon.  After an hour of removing over 1,000 nails and scattering ashes a mess still remained.

Magnets work great for removing nails.
Below: Corroding nails picked up in an unauthorized fire pit along the trail in Green Canyon.
